JMC Miami Micronutrient Testing, Nutritional
JMC Miami Restorative Medicine offers a great micronutrient assay that can significantly improve your health. Even if you have a balanced diet, exercise regularly and take multivitamins, you could be deficient in an important micronutrient. Replacement of one or more of these could result in improved energy, disease outcome, weight loss or better control, less bloating and improved concentration. Vitamin, mineral and antioxidant deficiencies have been proven to suppress the immune system and dirwectly contribute to such diseases as cancer, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, autism and diabetes.
Our simple one time blood test tests for most vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, your carbohydrate metabolism , fatty acids and metabolites. We also tailor a mineral and vitamin replacement regimen for you and compound the supplements in as few oral supplements as possible to make it easier for you. You will feel better in days.
So stop by or call JMC Restorative Medicine anytime for a discussion with any of our Age Management Board Certified physicians about your nutritional needs and micronutrient testing.
Miami HCG Diet Most Commonly Asked Questions
JMC Restorative Medicine has been named one of the three best weight loss spas in Miami by MyBeauty Magazine. We are local pioneers in the field of HCG and the HCG diet. Here are some answers to the most commonly asked HCG Diet questions.
What do you do if weight loss plateaus?
Increase water consumption, decrease fruit by one daily, increase green tea consumption and stop mixing vegetables. Check spices for sugar content.
Should I take HCG during menstrual cycle?
If you are taking the drops and you begin your period, continue program as usual. There are no side effects. You will retain water during this time.
Can I exercise during the HCG diet?
We recommend light exercise- speed walking 30 min per day, yoga, pilates and resistance wight lifting are great ways to keep your strength up. However, high calorie burning exercises such as aerobics and running are discouraged. They will put your body into starvation mode on a low calorie diet.
Can I use cosmetics while on the diet?
Fat and oils in lotions and ointments can be absorbed and interfere with weight loss. Try to avoid these. Baby oil, lipstick and powder are fine. Oil free foundation is also acceptable.
At JMC Restorative Medicine, we are dedicated to our patients and their health especially those on the Miami HCG Diet. Stop by for a free consultation or call anytime with questions.
Miami Male Vitamin D Deficiency,Miami Male Fertility
JMC Miami Restorative Medicine, in keeping current with the latest associations between vitamin deficiencies, supplementation and your health, brings you this excerpt from the June issue of Human Reproduction, 2011. Sperm from 300 men of all ethnicities and adult age ranges was evaluated for motility and function. In the study, 44% of the men were deficient in Vitamin D. The sperm of the men with the lowest levels of Vitamin D had impaired motility and fewer normally formed sperm than those with high Vitamin D levels thereby making them less fertile. The same studies showed that adequate Vitamin D supplementation increases intracellular Calcium levels.
Processed Meat Linked to Heart Disease and Diabetes
New research has shown that eating small amounts of processed meats, such as sausages and bacon, each day significantly increases the risk of developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Renanta Micha and colleagues at Harvard School of Public Health reviewed 20 studies involving more than a million people from 10 countries. Results showed that each 50 gram (1.8 oz) daily serving of processed meat (1-2 slices of deli meats or 1 hot dog) was associated with a 42% higher risk of developing heart disease and a 19% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Conversely, eating 100 grams of unprocessed red meat was not associated with an increased risk of either disease.
“To lower risk of heart attacks and diabetes, people should consider which types of meats they are eating. Processed meats such as bacon, salami, sausages, hot dogs, and processed deli meats may be the most important to avoid,” said Micha.
The authors concluded: “Consumption of processed meats, but not red meats, is associated with higher incidence of CHD and diabetes mellitus. These results highlight the need for better understanding of potential mechanisms of effects and for particular focus on processed meats for dietary and policy recommendations.”
